About Me
Sele Vance

Hello! My name is Sele Vance and I am a senior at Washington State University. I am majoring in Stragetic Communication with my emphasis in advertising, along with a minor in Fine Art. I am from the westide of the state, more specifically Everett. I enjoy all types of hobbies, recently photography after taking a course here, but especially outdoor ones where I can be physically fit. In addition to being adventurous, I enjoy a good laugh but I love making other people laugh more. I wasn't sure what to expect coming into this class, but after the few weeks enrolled I can already tell this will be the most interesting one I'm in. I'm excited for our upcoming projects using our personal creativity and skills to create each assignment.

Iconic Images

This is a photo of the World Trade Center being built. I see it as iconic because of the history it represents within our country. At first, this photo gave me a feeling of accomplishment and success. But, at second glance it gives me a "grave-yard-feel" because of the events during 9/11. This photo is in the raw form in which found it, which I like also becuase of the black and white feel of peace and remembrance. The visual aspects of this photograph are well distribued and there is a cohesive central balance of where the towers are. I also like the birds-eye approach from above to see in relation how large the towers really were.

This is the last known photo of the RMS Titanic. I see this as an iconic image because of the unpredicted tragedy that occured recently after this photograph was taken. Looking at this image I feel saddness and eeriness as if the ships is sailing off into it's known destiny. I also think this photograph represents beauty beause there had never been a ship as that built before. The visual aspects of this photograph are into rules of thirds where the ship is the back third. The front area of the photograph contains another boat opposite of where the ship is located. I think it's well spaced has an even blance without the ship being the main point. I also love this photograph because Titanic is my personal favorite movie so looking at it the actualism of the disaster comes to life.
